July 06, 2014: Conditions looked favorable for storms in the area. I loaded up the truck and headed north again towards Coyote Springs. The sky is always amazing during the monsoon season and I watched as several cells moved around the area producing rain accompanied with lightning. Right at dusk, I decided to drive east towards the town of Moapa. The radar showed a storm moving across the Morman Mountains towards the west. I was in a good position to catch the storm as it moved across the desert to the west. During the drive I saw several strikes in the area and encountered gusty winds. Arriving in Moapa the sky unleashed a furry of lightning strikes near a home and I couldn’t resist taking the opportunity to stop and fire off a few frames.

I didn’t stay long in the area and I drove south towards Las Vegas keeping behind the storm as it made it’s way across the Las Vegas Valley. Along the way I could see there was some action near Apex. I found a side road to the Apex Power plant and set the cameras up for one last shot before heading back home to Vegas.
